Adjustment to Injury Counselling (ATIC)
Adjustment to Injury Counselling is specifically designed to support people who are recovering from a physical or psychological injury, illness or health condition that is impacting their ability to participate in work and everyday life. The focus is on helping individuals build confidence in their recovery, overcome barriers such as fear, uncertainty or loss of identity and develop practical strategies to return to meaningful activities.
A key difference is that Adjustment to Injury Counselling adopts a recovery and work participation focus. With the individual’s consent, clinicians may collaborate with employers, rehabilitation providers, treating practitioners and insurers to support a coordinated recovery plan. This approach helps individuals remain connected to work where appropriate, facilitates safe and sustainable return to work outcomes and ensures psychological support is aligned with broader rehabilitation goals.
Our team of psychologists are equipped to compassionately support the emotional and lifestyle changes during this time. They can help to process what has happened and support emotional, behavioural and functional rehabilitation through evidence-based treatment.
